WHEN DECIDING TO INSTALL AN IRRIGATION SYSTEM IN YOUR HOME, THERE ARE A FEW IMPORTANT QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK

What is the best kind of sprinkler head to have in my system? What important elements contribute to an overall efficient and effective sprinkler system?

There are four principle elements that make a high-performance sprinkler system.

DESIGN

The major factor of design is uniformity of coverage. This ensures that all areas of your lawn are watered equally, so the least amount of water is required which is more cost efficient for your water bill. This also ensures that all areas of the lawn are watered adequately, while avoiding overwatering one area while having insufficient water in other areas.

Proper design criteria will help to regulate the amount of water dispersed from your irrigation system in the most cost efficient ways. This criteria includes head selection, nozzle size, head spacing, pipe size, zoning and water pressure.

INSTALLATION

The performance of your sprinkler system can be affected from the very beginning, as it highly depends on the quality of installation technique used from the onset. Quality of installation also demands that the system be installed exactly as it was designed, while any changes made to the original design are first to be discussed with the customer.

The installation crew should be respectful of both you and your property while being friendly and approachable to answer any questions you may have about the system or the installation process. They should also clean up after the job is completed, leaving your property in the same condition as they found it in upon arrival.

MAINTENANCE

All sprinkler systems must be well maintained for proper operation and reliability to ensure the highest possible longevity of the system with the fewest repairs. Just like vehicles which require regular oil changes and a maintenance schedule, sprinkler systems must be maintained and routinely evaluated to ensure best irrigation performance.

This maintenance extends and is not limited to spring start-ups, repairs to broken parts, adjustments of heads, altering the system as plant material grows, landscaping changes,

and winterization.

MANAGEMENT/OPERATION

Be sure to program your system with settings that will ensure your lawn receives enough water. This includes adjusting the days and times the system will turn on as well as making further adjustments to meet monthly or seasonal needs. Our technicians will be happy to show you how to operate the timer once the system has been installed.

Refer to these four important elements to ensure that your irrigation system is working to its full potential. Poor implementation of any of the above mentioned criteria will adversely affect the uniformity of coverage for your sprinkler system.

MATERIALS/PRODUCTS

The product used is of secondary importance. If you choose a known brand, all will be fine. If you choose an inferior brand, your repairs and service calls will increase. Typically only 40% of the material is from a brand name. Items such as pipes, wire, clamps, fittings, and valve boxes are not from the same brand name. One can not rely on a brand name to get quality product thoughout.
